Poduska Design
Visual Designer, Consultant
1999-Current

Marketing projects, including consulting for strategy in print and/or digital projects. Project management includes effectively connecting with engineers, accountants, athletes, artists, advocates, and other target markets. Agency clients include/have included: Common Sense Advertising, Compass Advertising, and Pick a Number Productions.

Independent projects have included Cornell College, various small local businesses, and private ventures. I've been fortunate to work with schools, major Iowa political campaigns, coffee shops, hair salons, and engineering firms. A firm believer in giving back/karma, the bulk of my in-kind print and web design consulting has been for Iowa Humane Alliance and Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation/Chalk the Walk.

By having a flexible schedule, I am fortunate to continue working in my medium while not only continuing my formal and studio education, but also actively volunteering in the community, assisting in managing the family's LLC, and somewhat keep track of my two almost-teen boys and their pets.

My design is reflective of the various experiences I encounter and fuels my empathetic, yet effective visual marketing.

Coordinator of Volunteerism & Service

Mount Mercy University

May 2024 - Present (20-30 hours/week as needed)

In a return to the Mount Mercy campus, I have put my communication and marketing skills to work as the volunteer liaison for the MMU community. I manage, promote and design service-learning experiences and programs on and off campus. While working with students, staff, professors and faculty, I connect them with volunteer and service opportunities within our community and beyond. These opportunities are rooted in the Sisters of Mercy Critical concerns: Immigration, Earth, Racism, Nonviolence, and Women. (sistersofmercy.org)

This position has forced me to look at another facet of the non-profit industry, as well as how important it is to integrate volunteerism into academics. As a self-starter it has been challenging, eye-opening, and heart-warming to see how communities keep afloat by giving, often without any recognition.

Cornell College
Interim Designer/Creative Director Services

April 2013  to June 2013

A return to Cornell following a creative director transition in the Office of Marketing and Communications following the inauguration of a new president.

While serving as Interim Designer/Creative Director, I created a seamless transition keeping projects on track, including numerous commencement materials, new logo

roll out, and mailings while prepping for homecoming and future end-of-summer

publications. Using my printing contacts and effectively overseeing an assistant and utilizing student workers, I not only kept the position afloat with under 30 hours a week, I was able to keep projects organized and push design boundaries during my interim tenure.
